Questions for Mr Bernard Sabrier

What triggered your commitment to humanitarian aid (experiences, memories, documentaries, discussions, encounters…)?

It is the duty of every responsible citizen. Why concentrate on helping children? Because children are the most defenceless of all in the face of illness, poverty, and ethnic or political conflict, and because children hold the future in their hands.

Before Children Action, had you already actively participated in other charity work?

Yes, of course, as a donor.

What were the main difficulties you had to face when you founded Children Action?

Managing to coordinate financial, scientific and logistical means, in such a way as to achieve the best result with the smallest budget.

Which memory has haunted you most since the foundation of Children Action?

The expressions in children's eyes.

Is there any project you are especially proud of?

Each project is important and has its own raison d'être. The project which aims to combat teenage suicide has both a social and humanitarian dimension, which makes it particularly fascinating.

What are your plans for the future?

To continue with the projects we have begun, as the most improvement will be seen in the long term.

How would you define the verb "to help"?

Changing a child's living conditions in a practical and direct way.
