Support to Arc-en-Ciel

In autumn 2006, Children Action has been sought by the Association Arc-En-Ciel, a Swiss non-profit organization supporting  children and families linving in contact of HIV / AIDS.

 

Set up in 1992, Arc-en-Ciel has for mission to offer a day to day help to families touched by the HIV, helping  them in their domestic, administrative, parental tasks in order to maintain as long as possible the family environment, always weakened by the disease and the death.

 

Children Action decided to support this Association by financing Wednesday meals and afterschool snacks as well as activities such summer camps.

Cost: CHF 15 000 (10 200 €) per year

Remedial classes

Since 2005, Children Action has financed  the remedial classes for about 40 migrant children aged  between 8 and 11 years old, and having either school difficulties related to the language, or diverse difficulties of adaptation or integration.
This activity has been developed by the Camarada Centre (
www.camarada.ch) in Geneva, which offers support to migrant women and children for their better social and cultural integration.

Cost : CHF 11 200 (7 400 €) per year

 

 

Renovation of the “Unit of development” within the paediatric department of the Geneva Hospital - Geneva

In 2009, Children Action fco-inanced twith the Wilsdorf Foundation the renovation of the “Unit of development” of the paediatric department of Geneva Children's Hospital. This 8-beds Unit which had not been renovated for more than 40 years accomodates new-born babies:

 - with parents facing  psychosocial issues (drug addiction, psychiatric/social  problems)
 - who have been abandoned and in the process of adoption 
 - premature (32 weeks of gestation)

The Unit takes in approx. 100 new-born babies per year for 2 300 days of hospitalization. The average duration of hospitalization is 25 days.

A bathroom within the department of paediatric surgery in Geneva

In 2002, Children Action financed a bathroom within the department of paediatric surgery. Thanks to this bathroom, numerous children with severe burns can benefit from specific treatments.

Cost: approx. CHF 50 000 (34 000 €)

A hospitalisation room in Geneva

In 2000, Children Action funded the provision of a 4-beds hospitalisation room within the surgical department of Geneva Children's Hospital. Ultra-modern equipment ensures that crucial post-operative treatment is carried out in the right conditions, including equipment monitoring the correct administration of medicines, and all êquipment necessary for monitoring heart function, blood pressure , breathing and oxygen levels.

Cost: CHF 107 784 (71 455 €)
