Centre for blind children
Even in this day and age, loss of vision can be synonymous with isolation, especially in developing countries. For this reason, Children Action decided to support a group of underprivileged blind children in Vietnam, to follow their development from an early age and to help them prepare for the future. Since 1994, this has been the guiding principle behind the centre for blind children near Hô Chi Minh City.
A shelter and the promise of a better life
Initially located in Ho Chi Minh City, the centre moved to a house 10 kilometres from the city. Today, 30 blind children and teenagers live there learning to read Braille, playing musical instruments and acquiring basic massage and basket-making skills in preparation for future professional activities.

Cost
One year of care costs approx.CHF 29 000 (20 000 €) including accommodation, education and training for between 25 and 30 blind children.

Team
Head of the centre: Sister Elisabeth, Hô Chi Minh City 4 Franciscan sisters ensure the smooth running of the centre. They are assisted by teachers, volunteers and a cook.
